MC Hockey 2024/25 Rep Skills Academy
ON-ICE Skill Development
The Rep Program consists of 10.75 hours On Ice instruction that is focused on developing a player’s puck skills during the season. As we know ice time is limited and coaches are spread thin installing team systems into their players, and the unfortunate area that gets dropped is individual skill development. That is where the MC Hockey Rep Skills Academy Program can help elevate your player’s game. The focus of the Rep Program is puck control while on the ice, skating with the puck, passing , shooting and shot selection. These sessions aim to give the players skills and tactics that they can then take back to their teams and have success with. In the Rep Skill Academy Program players will be pushed to the limits with their skating, puck skills, and game sense on the ice. Focus will not only be teaching the positional specific skill development but also how those skills can be translated and incorporated into their game play.

DEFENCEMAN SKILLS CAMP
Learning to play the dynamic position of Defence requires an elite skating level, puck handling and decision-making ability. The Defenceman camp consists of 10.75 hours of development. It takes time and position specific coaching that is geared towards making the game easier to play. From my coaching experience there isn’t always time for your team’s coach to dedicate time to Defence specific skill work.I break down the position by teaching and working on the fundamentals of the position in all three of the zones. This camp is completely dedicated to the defensive position, from footwork, and skating, to zone plays and joining into the attack generating offense from the blue line… everything that defensive players need to become a better defense man who can be a constant contributor for their team.
ZONE SPECIFIC SKILLS
Defensive Zone Skills·
Angling techniques to effectively defend opponents and control the play.·
Shot blocking techniques to protect the net and prevent scoring opportunities.·
Breakout strategies to efficiently transition the puck from the defensive zone to the offensive zone.
Neutral Zone Skills·
Gap control techniques to maintain proper positioning and limit opponent’s offensive opportunities.·
Transitional play skills to facilitate quick and smooth transitions between defense and offense.·
Agility and lateral movement drills to enhance overall mobility and agility on the ice.
Offensive Zone Skills·
Shot selection and shooting skills to improve accuracy, getting puck through to the net, and maximizing scoring chances.·
Blue line utilization techniques to effectively keep the puck in the offensive zone and sustain pressure.·
Decision-making and Hockey IQ training to enhance game awareness and make smart offensive plays.
I provide a structured and supportive environment where participants can develop their defensive skills to their fullest potential. As an experienced coach I am dedicated to helping athletes improve their performance and gain a deeper understanding of the game. I look forward to working with athletes who want an immersive experience that will elevate their defensive abilities and gain a deeper understanding of their position and the game of hockey.
